# Marimbababy - A Marimba Songbook - Mark Ford
Marimba Solo (5 OCtaves).
#MarimbaBaby: A Marimba Songbook is the sequel to Mark Ford's first marimba method book, Marimba: Technique Through Music. #MarimbaBaby began as an idea to compose original lullabies featuring the marimba. It is not a marimba method book; rather, it is a collection of marimba solos based on songs and lullabies for children. The songs in this book are of intermediate difficulty with a few at the end of the book being slightly longer and more advanced musically and technically. So #MarimbaBaby is a perfect sequel to Marimba: Technique Through Music. Samples of the lyrics are included with several of these songs to give the player a better understanding of each composition. Number of players: 1 Difficulty: Intermediate/advanced. A Little Malletmusik - Brian Slawson
A Little Malletmusik is another one of Brian Slawson’s brilliant pieces for beginning mallet percussionists. Despite its simple, catchy, and light character, it has a many pedagogical benefits. It is written to develop the skill of reading large groups of notes, as opposed to one note at a time. The piece also develops recognition of diatonic scales and chord progressions as well as relative majors and minors.
This piece comes with a full, bound score. It includes a CD-ROM containing an audio recording and all individual parts available for printing. A Message From the Emperor for Two Speaking Percussionists - Parts - Martin Bresnick
Using text from Franz Kafka’s short parable “A Message from the Emperor,” this work describes, in the composer’s words, “a glorious being, never seen by his countless lowly subjects, who, from his death bed, dispatches an indefatigable messenger (a prophet perhaps) with a most important message - just for you. For various practical reasons however the message cannot possibly be delivered. And even if it finally arrived the one who sent it will have died long ago.” A Message from the Emperor is played and recited by two percussionists facing each other at a slight diagonal angle, with the marimba placed audience left and the vibraphone at audience right. For advanced players. A Message From the Emperor for Two Speaking Percussionists - Score - Martin Bresnick

Marimba solo, intermediate level. Duration 6:00. This very nice piece by Guillaume Le Picard will be very successful for students, teachers, performers and for the public too. Both technical topics and musical interest make this work enjoyable for marimba practicing but also of course for recitals, auditions and concerts.

Xylophone Solo with optional piano.
Animal Cracker Rag is a perfect solo for a young, outgoing, and potentially crazy performer looking for an opportunity to schowcase their talent and sense of humor. This piece harks back to music from the 1910's and 20's, where polka and ragtime were the dominant musical styles. As composer Brian Slawson puts it in his own words, "written with a tip of the hat to Russian composers Dmitri Kabalevsky and Aram Khachaturian, Animal Cracker Rag is the kind of campy, two-beat fare often heard at circuses." This piece also includes an optional piano accompaniment geared toward percussionists who are looking to gain some experience on the instrument.
