Regina Caeli RV 615 - Antonio Vivaldi
2 Trumpets, strings and BC. Intermediate level. Critical edition by Michael Talbot. This Marian antiphon survives in autograph score among the manuscripts once in Vivaldi’s possession, today preserved in the Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria di Torino. It was evidently originally a four-movement work composed, possibly in 1726, for the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, but the opening two movements, which must have occupied one or more separate gatherings, are lost. In these circumstances, a reconstruction of the complete work is not a worthwhile proposition, and the edition is therefore presented as a fragment. Its vocal part was notated by Vivaldi in the tenor clef, which was used at the Pietà by a number of singers among the figlie di coro who, in today’s terms, would be classified as “low (or second) contraltos”. The score is of particular interest for featuring two parts named “Trombe” that are almost certainly not for brass instruments but for “violini in tromba marina”: specially adapted violins with only three strings and a distinctive bridge designed to mimic the raucous, rattling sound of a tromba marina. Requiem - Score - Reinmar Cimarosa
For soli, choir and orchestra. Score.
Requiem da Camera - Study Score - Gerald Finzi
Baritone solo, small chorus (or SATB soli) and chamber orchestra. English. Intermediate level. New edition with completion by Christian Alexander of the young composer’s first extended work; only the instrumental prelude was performed during Finzi’s lifetime. The other three movements are settings of poems by John Masefield, Thomas Hardy and Wilfrid Wilson Gibson. Scored for baritone solo, small chorus (or SATB soli) and chamber orchestra, the wellspring of the Requiem’s composition was the death, during active service in 1918, of Finzi’s composition teacher, Ernest Farrar. The work may also be viewed as a metaphor – the permanence of the land, and a centuries-old pattern of rural life following the rhythm of the turning seasons, contrasted with the violent havoc and destructive dislocation wrought by war. A reflective and poignant work particularly suitable for performances commemorating the tragedy of World War I. Requiem Mass And Te Deum - Full Score - Hector Berlioz
Direction score. Voice / orchestra. Large format.
Two great masterpieces of sacred music in one volume: Requiem Mass (Grande messe des morts), Op. 5, and Te Deum, Op. 22. Requiem unrivaled in the grandeur of its conception, calling for huge orchestral forces and a chorus of at least 200. The Te Deum contains some of Berlioz's most inspired and original ideas. Reprinted from the Breitkopf & Härtel, Complete Works edition. Contents: Requiem Mass (Grande Messe Des Morts) Op.5 Te Deum Op.22 Rhapsody In Blue - George Gershwin/ Ferde Grofé Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Op. 43 - Sergei Wassiljewitsch Rachmaninoff
Piano and Orchestra, study score, small format (ca 13,5 x 19 cm).
Apart from the four piano concertos, Rachmaninov's 'Paganini Variations' are considered to be among his major works for piano and orchestra. One theme from the last of Paganini's '24 Capricci for Violin Solo' was used by Rachmaninov as material for his 24 Variations. Rigoletto - Study Score - Giuseppe Verdi / Martin Chusid
Studi score, intermediate level.
Rondos - Studyscore - Frédéric Chopin / Norbert Müllemann
Piano solo, urtext, clothbound. Ed. by Norbert Müllemann, Fing.: Adreas Groethuysen.
Chopin’s early works include a wealth of new stimuli for anyone wishing to take a closer look at the creative works of the Polish genius. Up to now the four Rondos have been missing from our catalogue; but now they are finally available in Henle Urtext. Although they have been unfairly neglected, there are real discoveries to be made. It is hard to imagine that Chopin was only 15 when his Opus 1, the Rondo in c minor, was first published. Likewise, his Rondo op. 5, which incorporates the exotic sounds of Polish folk music, and the brilliant work in C major op. 73 were also written during his time in Warsaw. Without a doubt the young composer, who was the darling of the Warsaw salons, wrote these works as showpieces for himself. Here, and also with the Rondo op. 16, his mark is unmistakable. Our Urtext edition is also available as an affordable study score. Ruddigore - Full Score - Arthur Sullivan / David Russell Hulme
Full score. 120 min.
This edition is complete, clear, and practical as well as being scholarly and authoritative. It returns to the primary sources to present the music and libretto as performed during the original Savoy Theatre run. Vocal scores and full scores include the complete libretto. Clearly printed orchestral parts, matching exactly the text given in the full and vocal scores, are available on hire. Vocal scores and full scores include all the important completed but discarded material, and a series of appendices includes hitherto unpublished material from the Ghost Scene and elsewhere. This is conveniently cued from the music pages for easy inclusion. The full score, handsomely engraved and bound, contains extensive introductory notes. This revised full score features editorial and typographic changes from the version published in 2000, owing in part to newly available source material and in part to the discovery of a small number of typographic errors in the original. Rush - Study Score - Jonathan Leshnoff
This 8-minute concert opener alternates between pulsating fast sections and ethereal, suspended solos for clarinet and harp. Recorded on the Naxos label by Michael Stern and the IRIS orchestra, it has been broadcast numerous times. Performance materials are available on rental. Delivery time: 2/3 weeks.
