"Tell Me a Bedtime Story" by the great Herbie Hancock has been arranged with a funky straight-eighth groove by Alan Baylock. At 118 BPM, the tempo is laid back, the lead trumpet range is up to written high D, and a written-out tenor solo is provided, plus there are a few easy meter changes too. Even though the title implies “tenor feature,” this excellent chart for young players features the entire sax section in the beginning, along with background “stabs” in the brass. There is also a nice sax soli section and solos for trumpet and alto sax.
